Speakers Australia and its principal Peter Physick have provided the most convenient and professional service we have encountered.

In over 25 years of our Institute providing members with current, thought provoking and topical issue speakers for our conferences and forums, we have come to rely on the outstanding judgement of Peter and Speakers Australia.

Whether it be entertainers for a broad audience or the most challenging conference topic, Speakers Australia has never failed to deliver. We at the AMInstitute are faced with the dilemma of providing our delegates at conferences with new and exciting presenters year after year and as many of our delegates attend each year, we need presenters and entertainers with new and fresh material.

This challenge has been made obsolete by Speakers Australia as they have taken the time to know our business, our target audience and our history………

We at the East Coast Eagles AFL Football Club take great pride in entertaining, rewarding and acknowledging our sponsors, members and supporters. Our luncheons are renowned for their quality, in particular that of the speakers and entertainers we secure.

Speakers Australia is the only company we turn to for advice and service in this key field.

The service we received from Speakers Australia has been exemplary from the beginning. Peter Physick and his team worked very hard to ensure that Keith Scott was available to MC our event under what could be described as challenging logistical circumstances given the time constraints we were faced with.

We would highly recommend Peter and his company Speakers Australia.
David Carter / AgriPlex Group Pty Ltd

I have had the pleasure of dealing with Peter Physick at Speakers Australia since the year 2000 and have never been let down by his recommendations. I tell Peter the type of speaker or act that we require and he supplies a number of names and CV's of the speakers or acts which fit our requirements. It is as simple as that.

Peter’s professional attitude and friendly manner makes it an absolute pleasure to deal with him. I can not recommend him highly enough to any one or to an organisation which needs help in arranging, organising or advising on the best fit for their special event.

“Powerful, intelligent and compelling”.

David Parkin is one of the best business/motivational speakers in Australia – “Powerful, intelligent and compelling”. As a well known achiever in both the Sporting and Academic fields, Parkin relates his experiences to the world of business through working with numerous and varied organisations and corporations.

His achievements as an AFL footballer and coach are outstanding. He captained Hawthorn Football Club to their second premiership in 1971, and then coached them to a Premiership in 1978. He later coached Carlton Football Club to successive Premierships in 1981 - 82, as well as taking them to a record breaking number of victories in 1995, which culminated with them being Premiers.

David's incredible accomplishments have seen his talents transferred from the sporting and academic arenas to the world of business.  He originally trained as a primary school teacher and has spent eighteen years in Teacher Education and s presently Lecturer in Health, Physical Education and Recreation at a leading tertiary institute. David’s speaking presentations have been held in the highest esteem by organisations such as MLC Life, Spalding Australia, RACV, Campbells Soups, Telstra Australia, Australia Post and KPMG.

He is one of the most inspiring coaches to have ever been part of the game where his philosophy was simply to motivate individuals and teams.  David believes that …. ….

"The most powerful influence on individual and especially team performance is the degree of ownership/empowerment which is extended to them by coaches / leaders / managers. Empowerment requires change to traditional relationships between coach / athlete or manager / worker. This is a move away from dependence on the coach / manager to make all the decisions to the idea of the team sharing responsibility and providing each other support. Individuals therefore expand their authority to make decisions.

”I believe we treated our players as mature adults, trusted them implicitly, got out of their way, and let them get on with the job of playing good individual and team football. Because they had direct control over ’the who’ and ‘the how’ we witnessed unprecedented levels of individual and team responsibility, accountably and commitment.

”In the finish at the elite level of competition, the better coaches create and maintain winning traditions in their athletes and teams”.

In David’s view there are six essential ingredients and individual success traits in terms of winning tradition.

  • Commit to winning - expect to win
  • Create a new identity - a special place.
  • Find the right people - with talent and character.
  • Give everyone a valued role - everyone important.
  • Get out of the way - let them play.
  • Play with passion - but have some fun too.

At Carlton Football Club in 1995 he further developed an ongoing process involving an alliance between the coaching staff and their footballers. There is little doubt that this strength of commitment to the "common cause" (producing the best ever VFL/AFL season in its one hundred year history) was a result of the level of ownership experienced by his players.  In general this meant:

  • Writing a mission statement and the essential behaviours to bring it about.
  • Developing short term and long term goals and reviewing them on a regular basis.
  • Structuring specific bench marks to determine accurately the quality of performance.
  • Collection and analysis of statistical data, as an evaluative tool.
  • Engineering tactics and strategies to meet the weekly game demands"

A genuinely lovely person, David researched my business and targeted specific areas using his own wealth of experience in managing teams of high performing individuals. David talks with passion and can relate any circumstance thrown at him to his own AFL or Education experiences. The questions from the floor at the end could have gone on for hours and David was most willing to fully engage the audience and we were left wanting more.
