Speakers Australia and its principal Peter Physick have provided the most convenient and professional service we have encountered.

In over 25 years of our Institute providing members with current, thought provoking and topical issue speakers for our conferences and forums, we have come to rely on the outstanding judgement of Peter and Speakers Australia.

Whether it be entertainers for a broad audience or the most challenging conference topic, Speakers Australia has never failed to deliver. We at the AMInstitute are faced with the dilemma of providing our delegates at conferences with new and exciting presenters year after year and as many of our delegates attend each year, we need presenters and entertainers with new and fresh material.

This challenge has been made obsolete by Speakers Australia as they have taken the time to know our business, our target audience and our history………

The service we received from Speakers Australia has been exemplary from the beginning. Peter Physick and his team worked very hard to ensure that Keith Scott was available to MC our event under what could be described as challenging logistical circumstances given the time constraints we were faced with.

We would highly recommend Peter and his company Speakers Australia.

I have had the pleasure of dealing with Peter Physick at Speakers Australia since the year 2000 and have never been let down by his recommendations. I tell Peter the type of speaker or act that we require and he supplies a number of names and CV's of the speakers or acts which fit our requirements. It is as simple as that.

Peter’s professional attitude and friendly manner makes it an absolute pleasure to deal with him. I can not recommend him highly enough to any one or to an organisation which needs help in arranging, organising or advising on the best fit for their special event.

A regular guy who just keeps on getting things done .....
Barnaby Howarth never wanted his life to be spectacular. He just wanted to play AFL, he wanted to marry a girl and start a family and he wanted to do things with his life that he could look back on with pride.  He never wanted anything more than to live a regular, everyday life, but his desire to live that life was put in doubt when he was diagnosed with diabetes and years later had a stroke.

He decided that the only way to give himself any chance of living the life he wanted was to keep getting things done. Rather than scale back his goals, he got more ambitious - he wanted to go to University, write his autobiography, make a documentary and climb Kilimanjaro.

His goals may not have been anything out of the ordinary, but after diabetes and a stroke, achieving them was extraordinary. He played a season of AFL with the Sydney Swans, had his autobiography published, filmed two documentaries in Africa, one about climbing to the top of Kilimanjaro, and is now an “everyday Joe” who is doing things with his life that he will look back on with pride.

Barnaby's “glass half full” attitude to life is what helped him to keep moving forward after his GP told him that normal blood sugar levels should be between 4 and 8, but his was 38. It helped him again seven years later when he was confronted by an angry mob, was king hit, then kicked in the head while he was unconscious. A brain stem in his neck was torn which resulted in a stroke that left him on life support and his parents were warned they might have to switch it off. When he awoke, he realised that life was going to be much harder this time around - he had brain damage, severe left side coordination problems, and double vision.

Rather than dwell on what he couldn't do, he just got on with it and his life today is no different to any other man on the street – he is living a regular, everyday life which he is going to look back on with pride.

Barnaby’s message of just getting on with it is one that is relevant to people from all walks of life. We all suffer some sort of adversity and Barnaby just wants to help people to keep moving forward.

I am fortunate to have known Barnaby Howarth for over seven years and he impressed me from the first day.  He is intelligent, very mature and has a very easy going nature.

An excellent communicator, Barnaby mixes easily with people and expresses himself very well – qualities which will suit him well in his stated pursuit of public speaking engagements.

I have been involved in sport at a competitive level for most of my life and have experienced the disappointment of injury and the resultant forced absence from participation for a period of time.   However, I can’t imagine how I would have reacted if my playing career had been so cruelly ended as Barnaby’s was.  He was at the height of his football career when he suffered a major stroke, which not only brought football to a halt but also left him with physical disabilities still with him today.

Since then, his attitude has always been that there are others worse off than him and he just gets on with his life.  Whenever I have seen him in recent times, he always greets me as if he does not have a care in the world.

Barnaby deserves success and good fortune in life and I would be pleased to speak to anyone considering him for a public speaking role.

Anyone wishing to hear an inspirational speaker could not go past Barnaby Howarth. The manner in which he has dealt with adversity is a story that must be heard by people from any walk of life.

In January 2008 he spoke to a group of sales staff at Boehringer Ingelheim, in a most candid fashion, about how he has adapted to life since suffering a debilitating stroke in 2005. His story is an incredible testament to how someone can face an extreme setback, but then not let such a reality impede their life.

It is a truly inspirational tale. One from which our whole staff learnt a great deal. One that still sees them ask and talk about Barnaby today.

If you have a chance to hear his story, don’t miss it …..
